Supervision of established teams or project working groups
Supervision means to observe one’s own work from a 'meta level' – i.e. to reflect systematically on how one is working. The purpose of supervision is to optimise and facilitate the daily work and to resolve conflicts within the team constructively.
In this respect, it is crucial that the supervisor is not part of the system – s/he should be independent and observe the team, its methods and conflicts "from the outside".
In psychotherapeutic medicine, supervision has always been a key component of quality management – the reflecting observation of one’s own actions significantly increases the quality of the work.
Some of the key questions relating to supervision include:
- How do we do what we do daily?
- Why are we doing it like this and not differently?
- What are the ensuing conflicts?
- What could be improved?
